My next phase of professional development was with a public relations agency. As a pr account executive, I represented clients by writing and placing stories with national magazines and newspapers, usually ghostwriting the articles for CEOs of companies.
Eventually I took the path of freelance writer. My first contract was with AT&T in their Public Relations Department working on their in-house technical publication and in their film department. This on-site corporate assignment allowed me to experience the inner workings of an international conglomerate.
Over the years as a writer and consultant I collaborated with advertising agencies, small businesses, corporations, institutions, economic development groups, nonprofits and individuals. I not only wrote for them, but often also became their project manager hiring other freelance artists, designers, photographers and acting talent. From concept to completion was my responsibility.
My belief and experience is that there is a silent power in words when they are strung together effectively. Like magic, words can conjure images, evoke emotion, cause people to think and often stir them to take action. Crafting and taking your story–your message–where it needs to be, is what I like to do for the people and companies with whom I work.
In addition to providing writing and public relations services, I am often retained to represent clients in prospecting for new customers, in presenting their products, increasing their sales and territory.
